“Everything is backwards, everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, psychiatrists destroy minds, scientists destroy truth, major media destroys information, religions destroy spirituality and governments destroy freedom” - Michael Ellner

On ‘Inverted World’, Somalgia present a psychedelic interpretation of a dystopian reality set in a world not unlike our own. The album covers an eclectic range of influences & genres from black metal, trip-hop and folk to progressive & psychedelic rock.

Conceptually, ‘Inverted World’ follows a journey of awakening in which the protagonist struggles to come to terms with the nature of reality, falls down endless conspiracy rabbit holes, battles addiction, consumerism & technology overload and ultimately understands what it means to be an outsider in a backwards world.

How deep does the rabbit hole go?

TC – Electric and acoustic guitars, vocals, lyrics, synths.
RS – Keyboards, guitars, vocals, drums.
Session vocals performed by: Kat Elizabeth
Mixed and produced by Ryan Stevenson
Mastered by Kerberos in The Crypt

HEADBANGER REVIEWS - "Bounding from black metal to progressive regions of both metal and rock to folk to even trip-hop, “Inverted World” takes on so much stylistically in a successful manner that it is downright bewildering to experience"

GBHBL - "A mind-bending release, Somalgia are one of those indefinable bands, capable of challenging perceptions of what music should and could sound like"

"Bonkers. Somalgia may have begun as black metal, but they are so much more now, and who knows just where they will take their sound."
"The debut album from Somalgia (on Repose Records) might be a bit on the conspiratorial side, but the music is diverse, inventive, and all-around fantastic."

"Stylistically there are tinges of black metal, large doses of classic prog, fresh commercial choruses, spooky touches, dark electronica and a lot of retro style keyboard work. “Inverted World” is highly theatrical, and almost music hall with elements of a West End musical at times, yet there’s space for lush, lofty and dreamy guitar work which raise and expand the unremittingly surreal atmosphere."
